So says a recent Business Week article.
What is the Edge? “Edges are the peripheries of the global business environment, the places where innovation potential is the highest. In today's fast-moving business world, playing on the edge increasingly is the best way to gain an edge.”
So what does this mean?
Edges are about meeting unmet needs, solving unsolved problems, innovating effectively and even unexpectedly. Don’t feel like embracing or recognizing the edge? That’s fine…if you want to fall way behind your competitors and lose touch with your potential customers.
What else are edges?
- Sources of innovation
- Risky places
- Places that encourage and cry out for well-developed, valuable relationships
In short, edges are no longer actually at the edge. In fact, to embrace the edge, you need to “bring the edge to the core” and make the edge the norm.
